Choosing the right props and backgrounds for your photoshoot are just as important as your clothing. Some people may leave these decisions to their photographers but some input from clients goes a long way and will help us in creating something much more personal for you. Here are some tips on helping you to make the right choice.

  • If you're not sure of the overall style you want in your photos, then discuss this with your photographer and they can help you make a decision that best suits your needs.
  • Where will your photos be displayed?
Take into consideration the colours of your home and what would be complimentary colour wise within your portraits.
  • Location and environmental portraits will most certainly provide a vast range and choice of background options. These will aid in creating a desired theme and effect within your images.
  • Try starting with an idea or a theme in mind by collecting inspirational images.
Discuss and share these with your photographer before finalising your photo shoot.
Pinterest is a great place to collect images and create mood boards.

  • Personal props can help add personality or sentimental value to an image.
Items that help to describe your hobbies are great and will certainly help your photographer to add that additional personal touch to your images.

I hope you find these few tips helpful and if you have anything to add please feel free to leave a comment below and i'll be sure to add them in.
